GATE Exam 2019

GATE 2019 will be conducted by IIT Madras; GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is primarily conducted for admission to M.Tech/ Ph.D. and other Government Scholarships/Assistantships, or getting jobs with various PSUs and other govt. bodies who hire fresher engineers from various streams.

The GATE exam is conducted annually by an individual institute as authorized exam conducting body among the IISc Bangalore and 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Roorkee) on a rotative basis. As for GATE exam 2019; IIT Madras is the authorized exam conducting body and most probably the GATE exam 2020 will be conducted by IIT Delhi.

GATE - 2019 is an Online Computer Based Test (CBT) for all of the 24 papers. The entire process of GATE exam has been made online, starting from sending an application for GATE to final result declaration everything will be done online on official GATE portal known as "GOAPS" (GATE Online Application Processing System).

Types of Questions in GATE

The GATE Exam 2019 will have 2 types of Questions:

MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions)

NAT (Numerical Answer Type)

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

MCQ's question will have 4 choices of answers to choose from and will carry a value of 1 mark or 2 marks. The candidate has to choose the correct one. Every incorrect answer will result in negative marking. Choosing 2 options as the answer will also be counted as an incorrect answer and is subject to negative marking.

Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions will also carry a value of 1 or 2 marks in all the papers. A virtual calculator is allowed to be used for this section. The candidate has to use a mouse to use this virtual calculator and punching answer for NAT questions.

Negative Marking Scheme in GATE Exam 2019

Candidates should be clear about the negative marking scheme applicable in the GATE Exam 2019 for every incorrect answer. The negative marking is applicable to MCQ's section only and will work as follows:

1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer of question carrying 1 mark value.

2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer for question carrying 2 marks value.

ELIGIBILITY IN GATE-2019 EXAM

To appear for GATE exam candidate must have any one of the following qualifications:

a) Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and those who are in the final year or who have completed their degree on or before 2019.

b) Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and those who are in the final year or who have completed their degree on or before 2019.

c) Candidates in (Post B.sc.) integrated master degree in Engineering/ Technology four year programmed is eligible but those candidates must complete their degree by the year 2020.

d) The students of the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree program and Dual Degree program in Engineering/Technology can also apply for GATE-2019 exam. But those candidates must complete their degree on or before 2019.

e) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

If you possess any qualification equivalent to the above, still then you are eligible to apply for GATE-2019.

Note:

1. GATE Aspirant who has a backlog in any subjects should upload mark sheet of final semester or obtain deceleration of principal from their respective college or institute.

2. Final year students also mandatory to obtain deceleration of principal from their institution to complete the online application process.

For GATE Exam 2019 application fees can be paid online through Net Banking of banks. The payments through Debit Card/Credit Card and e-challan will also be accepted. Any additional payment/transfer charges applicable as per bank rules will be incurred by the applicants only.

GATE-2019 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)

GOAPS is an official online user interface that lets a candidate interact with the GATE officials. GOAPS stand for GATE Online Application Processing System. The portal is used by both the students and the GATE officials. Candidate needs to register an account with GOAPS which is free.

Here is the list of tasks that you can manage with GOAPS login 2019

Apply for the GATE 2019 examination online.

Submit all required photograph, signature and other documents including your graduation certificate and any other applicable certificate by uploading a scanned copy for the same.

Online payment of GATE exam application fees.

Pay the application fee through net-banking.

Golden Tips While Submitting Online Application for GATE-2019

Here are a few practical tips that you should take care of while submitting your online application in GOAPS for GATE Exam 2019.

Use a valid/working E-Mail ID and Mobile Number while registering an account with GOAPS for GATE Exam 2019. As all the information and notifications will be sent at these only.

Make sure you remember your Enrollment ID and password, better to keep it save in written or in your mobile.

For security purpose, it’s recommended never share your personal information and identity proofs and any login credentials with your friends or anyone.

You are bound to provide accurate personal & educational information while applying for GATE 2019. Any inaccurate/dubious information can result in application rejection.

Upload your high-resolution passport size photo with white background.

Make safe the ID proof that you have uploaded while applying online for the GATE exam 2019 as the same you have to produce in the examination hall. Carry this ID proof while going to sit in the exam.

Keep ready your ID proofs, photo, certificates/degree scanned copies, credit/debit/I-collect/I-connect details in hand ahead of starting the online application process.
