Selection Procedure

• A valid GATE score is also needed.
• The GATE requirement is waived for B.Tech. graduates from IITs with a minimum overall CGPA/CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.0 in the last two semesters in B.Tech. However, such candidates are not entitled for Institute Assistantship if their overall CGPA/CPI is below 8.0.
• Candidates with AMIE certificates are not eligible to apply.

Important Notification

Points to be Noted for Admission in IIT Kanpur

• All applications must be filled online.
• All the candidates with BE/B.Tech in Engineering disciplines need to have a valid GATE score for any of the M.Tech course.
• Those students who are in the final year of their qualifying examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply. However, they should have completed all the requirements for the award of their qualifying degree.
• Application form is available online only; information brochure is available on website www.iitk.ac.in.
• While filling the online application you have to provide your preference for department as per your requirement.
• If the course to which an applicant is offered admission does not eventually run for any reason, the applicant will be offered admission to some other suitable course depending upon the GATE score, interview marks (if applicable) and options entered in the application.
• An applicant admitted to a post-graduate programme with assistantship will not be eligible for admission with assistantship in any other programme at this institute or any other Institution on the basis of the same GATE scorecard.
• Candidates who are given provisional admission are eligible for a scholarship only on regularization of admission (on production of the required documents). They will be paid a scholarship with retrospective effect, i.e., from the date of joining.
