POWERGRID, the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) of India and a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete inter-State transmission system and operation of National & Regional Power Grids.
POWERGRID operates around 1,08,307 circuit kms of transmission lines along with 186 Sub-stations (as on 30.06.2014) and wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission network. POWERGRID, with its strong in-house expertise in various facets of Transmission, Sub-Transmission, Distribution and Telecom sectors also offers consultancy services at National and International level. POWERGRID has been making profit since inception, having Gross turnover of 15,230 Crore and Net Profit of 4497 Crore (FY: 2013 - 14).

Selection procedure
Step-1: The eligible candidate is required to appear in GATE-2015 Exam.
Step-2: Students with valid GATE SCORE CARD will call for personal interview.

- A valid GATE-2015 Registration number will be required to register with PGCIL.

General instructions for PGCIL
- Only Indian citizen students are eligible to apply for PGCIL job.
- Students must remember to apply through online application process, no manual applications will entertain.
- Enter your correct GATE registration number while online application process.
- Admit Card with Overwriting will lead to cancelation in student registration.
- Candidate must keep their admit card and registration slip before final selection/result.
- Candidate must have essential qualification as mentioned in the above table.
- AMIE students are eligible to apply for PGCIL.
- Part time or distance education students are not eligible.
- Final year students are eligible to apply for PGCIL but they must bring their final degree certificate at the time of interview.
- Date of issuance of final mark sheet shall be taken as the date of acquiring qualification.
- Candidates working in Govt. / PSU are required to produce “No Objection Certificate” at the time of Interview.
- Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of one year at POWERGRID sites and training institutes. On successful completion of training, the candidates will be absorbed as Engineer.
- Appointment of selected candidate is subject to medical examination as per PGCIL law for their employees.
- Selected candidates are liable to be posted in anywhere in india or abroad.
- Any candidate submitted false/incorrect information shall be rejected at any stage of selection process.
- The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond to successfully complete the prescribed training period and thereafter serve the organization for at least three years.
